Andrei Rybakou breaks the world record but because he starts his lift too late it doesn’t count!
Pyrros Dimas’ is trying to win 4 consecutive Olympic gold medals. He fails at his first attempt at 175kg, but succeeds at his second try but had to hang on to do it.
George Asanidze attempts 177.5kg and succeeds.
Pyrros Dimas then goes for 202.5kg and succeeds on his first attempt. He then goes for 205kg but fails and seems to injure himself.

Dimas then has another go at 205kg and although he gets it under his chin he buckles when he tries to lift it over his head. He then takes off his shoes and leaves them on the platform to signify his retirement.
At the medal ceremony Asanidze is crowned champion and Dimas has his name chanted out by the crowd in recognition of a great Olympic weightlifter.
